Snacks For The Whole Class
SNACKS FOR THE WHOLE CLASS?!?!?!?!
Every parent knows the panic of finding out they’re on snack duty—the night before. Rather than running to the store in your PJ’s to spend a fortune on pre-made treats, follow these easy and quick snack-savers made with common pantry items. So next time you hear “Mom? I forgot to tell you…” don’t panic, just make piggies!
PIGGIE YOGURT CUPS
SUPERPOWER BARS
Kids can use a bit of all-natural superpower during their day. These fruit and nut bars can be made from any kind of dried fruits and nuts – just use what you have in your pantry. Dates, prunes and raisins are all good but this recipe uses apricots, which are particularly delicious when paired with almonds and coconut. Full recipe.
HAPPY TRAIL MIX BAGS
Trail mix is the one of the easiest things to make, just grab what you have in your pantry, mix it together, and stick it in a gallon size Ziploc® bag. To keep the snack balanced and healthy, try to include something from all these groups: Nuts, seeds, dried fruit and grains. A little extra sweet in the mix doesn’t hurt either, but try to make it as unprocessed as possible—like dark chocolate chips. Full recipe.
VEGGIE KEBAB ROCKETS
Food on a stick is always a winner, and veggie kebabs score on both presentation and health. Take the vegetables you have in your fridge, cut them up and serve with a dip. To create an extra fun snack, you can easily turn the kebabs into rockets. Served with homemade (or store bought) hummus, these kebab rockets make snack time rock! Full recipe.
